Investors in People
provides a framework for integrating people development with business
strategy. It encourages companies to identify best practice so
that the performance of the organisation can be improved through
its people and a culture of continuous improvement.
In the 21st Century service culture staff are often the organisation's
greatest asset.
Your staff are the first contact with your commercial partners
make sure first impressions count!
It is your staff who
are responsible for delivering the products and services you offer
and that you as manager are responsible for any strategic or operational
changes in their performance.
It is therefore essential to ensure that:
• Staff are
capable of effectively conducting tasks required of them now and
in the future.
• The organisation's goals are strongly linked to any learning
and training required.
• Your training and learning activities are robustly evaluated
as to their impact.
Castlemilk Economic Development Agency Business Services
Team can help you implement practices that make these linkages
and in doing so improve bottom line results.
Investors in People is a popular and well established method of
improving people processes. It employs an external assessment
programme to confirm the client meets the national Investors in
People (IiP) framework. This requires a company to:
• have a vision for the future
• Communicate the vision
• Ensure that staff understand their objectives and how
their work "fits" into the overall plan
• Provide learning, training and development that ensures
the organisation moves towards its vision, by meeting business
objectives
• Evaluate the impact of training on the organisation
We will steer you through the whole process and ensure that your
organisation reaps the benefits in performance improvement.
From the initial meeting we will identify with you the key action
areas that will help you get the most benefit from Investors in
People.
The subsequent diagnostic will show you how your staff are linked
to your business goals and we then provide a gap analysis suggesting
areas for improvement.
We can also access a range of training initiatives through our
own resources and via our partner network this can include coaching,
mentoring, etc
The implementation process will allow you to access our wide ranging
Investors in People resources and the services of one of our Investors
in People advisors
To quote from a satisfied client “It’s another
part of our business that I don’t need to worry about.”
Investors in People
Makes an Impact
Over 60% of the Glasgow workforce is actively involved with the
Investors in People standard which is significantly higher than
the UK average. The partnership working that Investors in People
encourages has ensured that some of the very best organisations
anywhere credit the process with real tangible business benefits.
One of the first studies into Investors in People [1] found that
"almost four fifths (79%) of employers recognised as Investors
in People believed that the initiative had improved the quality
of their workforce. Around two thirds believed that their involvement
had made a positive contribution to business performance."
A more recent study [2] suggested that the standard had played three
roles in the change management process:
• A catalyst of change - 34%
• An enabler of change - 43%
• Offering external recognition of change - 23%
In these roles, it was suggested, the standard not only provided
a framework for change but also provided a tool for carrying out
a reality check on the resulting benefits which were reported
as being:
• Increased bottom line in at least a third of the private,
and to a lesser extent public sector firms
• Increased competitiveness in 7 of 10 organisations
• Increased productivity in 7 of 10 organisations
• Reduced staff turnover in 5 of 10 organisations
• Improved profits in 4 of 10 organisations
• Reduced recruitment costs in 4 of 10 organisations
