	Local Window Company Thrives

	G.P. CONTRACTS was formed in 1998 with a single employee, the Director, Paul O’Brien working from home.As Paul’s business expanded he required additional space and chose to locate in Castlemilk as the Business Park offered high quality secure units coupled with support from CEDA the local Development Company. G.P. Contracts, which provides a mastic joint sealing service mainly to the construction and civil engineering industry, has been gradually building up a good reputation within the industry and now has seven employees. Training has included appraisals, web design and Information Communication Technology. Following the success of G.P. Contracts, Paul wanted to diversify and decided to set up Premier Windows, a franchised business from Ventrolla,specialising in sash window renovation and upgrading. Paul believes Premier Windows provides a unique renovation service to repair and restore original wooden sliding sash windows and he employs skilled craftsmen trained in conservation and preservation. Larry Diamond, CEDA’s Property Manager was able to provide a suitable business unit for Paul and Premier Windows now employs eight staff. In conjunction with CEDA, Paul decided to work towards becoming an Investor In People Company. G.P. Contracts achieved IIP accreditation in October 2004 and Premier Windows in November 2004. Summing up the benefits of Glenwood Business Park Paul said: “The support I have received from CEDA’s Property Company and Business Development team has given me the confidence to expand knowing that help is at hand.”
