CYCLING TO SUCCESS

A cycle and re-cycling project in Castlemilk is fast pedalling towards another award. Set up to help local parents buy bikes at Christmas without getting into debt, Community Can Cycle has been nominated for the prestigious National Recycling Awards. One of four in the 'Best Community Project for Recycling Award', Community Can Cycle will know the final outcome at a gala dinner in Telford in October. 'We are really, really pleased to have been nominated,' said Administrator April Gordon. 'But we don't know if we'll have time to go to the ceremony as we're so busy.' The project not only recycles bikes to be sold at affordable prices, but also recycles drinks cans, glass bottles and plastic. 'They are working towards their Investors In People awards, too,' commented Ken Stewart head of the Training and Technology Team at Castlemilk Economic Development Agency which has advised Community Can Cycle since its inception.
