Coffee
mornings can be good for your health. That was the subtle message
of a McMillan fund raising event run by CEDA staff in the offices
at Glenwood Business Centre. Their recipe for success was: teamwork.
Choosing to take part
in the Biggest Coffee Morning in the World to raise funds for McMillan
Cancer Care, the staff at CEDA used the opportunity to get their
own health message across to everyone.
'We had information displayed
on cancer care as part of our Health at Work programme,' explained
Pauline Mulholland of the marketing department and an executive
administrator. 'More than 112 people attended the coffee morning
and they all had the chance to see this information.' The team effort
produced hidden talents when Finance Department member Helen Clunas
offered to bake the 'goodies' to be offered with the coffee. 'I've
always enjoyed baking and was delighted to do this,' said Helen
who was on holiday the day of the event but had baked in advance
over several days and reserved everything in the freezer.
Her recipes for cherry
coconut chews, melting moments, fruit loaf, pancakes and lots of
other delicious treats were made into booklets which were sold and
helped bring the final total to £325.98. They can still be
obtained from CEDA's office at Glenwood Business Centre.
The team with the recipe
for a successful social, fundraising and health awareness day were:
Pauline Mulholland, Samantha McEwan, Helen Clunas and Sharon Jackson.
